One of my favorite tavernas

In the lovely bay of Lera on the island of Lipsi there is one of my favorite tavernas, Dilaila.

After 2 very windy days in Arki the wind drops today and we continue our trip back to Kos.

Quite busy Arki

Yesterday morning we moored safely in Arki at the last available place.

Just before I called Manolis Trypas to make sure, there is space.

In the afternoon it got quite busy as a seldom guest came to Arki - the Hellenic Coast Guard.

First we thought, that they start checking for illegal entry to Greek Waters and even one boat had to move to give more room to them.

About 1 hour later there was another Coastguard ship arriving delivering the mayor of Patmos followed by a SAR ship carrying a minister from Athens.

Hopefully nothing happened at sea as the politicians used all the available boats.

All inhabitants of the island then met at Tripas taverna to listen to the politians, who promissed free TV receiption and free internet. Nothing about a doctor or a pharmacy ):

Heraia Festival

Our stop in Pythagorion was topped in the evening by the Iraia Festival in the harbour of Pythagorion.

From the bimini top we had a great spectators view.

Haraia was the biggest festivity in ancient Samos celebrating the birth of goddess Hera, who according to the myth was born in Samos under the leaves of an osier tree. Later she got married to Zeus..

Damages caused by the Earthquake

After returning to Kos marina I realized, that there must have been a severe earth movement caused either by the tsunami and/or the earthquake.

Lots of cracks on the outer pantoon as well as on the main part of the marina.

Some damages to the boats, mainly on their stern or when masts hit each other.

On the dry dock some stands collapsed and 2 sailing boats felt aside producing some damage.

Their were 2 casualties I know of by now, but none related to the marina.

Guardian Angel

When I left Kos Marina on Thursday afternoon, there was no sign of the disaster, that happened the following night.

While Lady Soul was safely moored at one of the mooringbuoys from Ilias Taverna in Palionissos (Kalymnos island) there was an earthquake with 6.6 Richter just south of Bodrum, which did a lot of damage to Kos maritime infrastructure.

As there is no mobile availability in Palionissos at the moment, I had to go by car over the mountain to Emporio to get in contact with the world.

As far as I know by now, none of my friends were injured, but some had damages.

Now I am on my way back to Kos with mobile internet and I will post a summary later.
